Eastern Thailand’s sleepy island paradise gearing up for 3-day electronic music festival

Eastern Thailand’s sleepy island paradise of Koh Mak is gearing up to welcome the 20th edition of the electronic music festival Thaibreak.

Across three full days and four nights, from Mar 22-26, 24 local and international DJs will take over the decks to spin techno, house and everything from sunrise to sunset.

Alongside the festival’s organizers, Germany’s DJ Mathias Kaden and Thailand’s DJ Superstar Panda, acts confirmed include international headliners Sonja Moonear (Switzerland) and Andre Galluzzi (Germany), and Bangkok nightlife sweethearts Mendy Indigo, Sarayu, Marmosets and NK Chan. On top of party cruises, there will also be a variety of beach-related activities on offer.

Situated in between the much larger islands of Koh Chang and Koh Kood near the Cambodian border, Koh Mak promises powdery white beaches, super-clear waters and low-rise development at odds with the usual touristy destinations. The island in Trat province is reachable by a four to five-hour drive from Bangkok followed by a ferry ride.

Festival tickets are on sale now at the early-bird price of B3,000 (rising to B3,500) from www.ticketmelon.com/event/thaibreak-festival-2018. The organizers also offer accomodation and transportation services—see thaibreak-festival.com.
